Takoma Park Small Group
Tuesdays, 6:00PM-8:00PM
We meet on Tuesday nights from 6-8 pm for dinner, evening prayer, and to walk through Matthew's gospel together. All are welcome.

Morning & Midday Prayer

World Refugee Day Prayer Breakfast: June 16
RILA will host a prayer breakfast on Thursday, June 16, at 7:30 am to pray for our immigrant neighbors, refugees worldwide, and RILA's work. Coffee and a light breakfast will be served. The breakfast will be held at RILA's office at Greenbrier Baptist Church in Arlington, VA. Contact Katie if you are interested in carpooling to the breakfast.

Wild Wonder Summer Camp Registration
Kids between the ages of 7 and 12 are invited to register for Holy Comforter's Wild Wonder Camp which will be held at Cabin John Regional Park in Bethesda, MD from August 10-14. Register here and note that you are with the Incarnation Anglican/Holy Comforter group in the comments section.

Save the Date! Fall Retreat October 2-4
We will hold our fall retreat with Incarnation Anglican (our mother church) from Oct 2-4 at Camp Manidokan near Harper’s Ferry (1.5 hr from Hyattsville). Camping, lodge, and day options available; save the date and stay tuned for registration and details!
Summer Hikes
We’ll be hiking on Saturday, June 13; July 11; and August 15. All are welcome, and we’ll post more details about each hike in the coming weeks.
June 13 Hike: Patapsco Valley State Park
We'll meet at the Avalon area of Patapsco Valley State Park in Ellicott City at 9 am and walk the Grist Mill Trail + Cascade Falls Trail. You can wade in the river, so bring clothes that can get wet. And pack a picnic lunch. The entrance fee for the park is $5/vehicle. Our other hikes are on July 11 and August 15.
Men's Night Out

An Evening with Tish Harrision Warren
Five Talents, will host an evening with Anglican priest and writer Tish Harrison Warren on Friday, May 27, at 7pm. Warren will discuss her new book, What Grows in Weary Lands., and Five Talents will share stories from the field. Our monthly church, Incarnation Anglican, is hosting a table and offering a few tickets to CHC on a first-come, first-served basis; email Emily to request a ticket. If interest exceeds capacity, additional people can register and purchase a ticket for $25 here.
Pentecost
Join our children-led Pentecost celebration by wearing red, joining the opening procession, and staying afterward for cake as we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit and the birthday of the church.
Summer Block-Out Dates
We’ll be making our summer volunteer schedule in the coming weeks. Please enter any dates you’ll be away this summer in Planning Center, so we don’t schedule you when you’re out of town.
Baptism Class: May 16 and 27
We will hold a class on baptism on Saturday, May 16, 9-11 am and Wednesday, May 27, 7-9 pm. This class is for those who are interested in being baptized and those who are interested in learning what our church believes about baptism. Contact Katie to register and learn more.
Rogation Sunday
Sunday, May 10, is Rogation Sunday, the day when we ask for God’s blessing on our common life and labors. Bring an item representing your work to church for a procession and blessing of our labor!
May 3 Potluck and Parish Meeting
On Sunday, May 3, we'll have our monthly potluck and first parish meeting. We'll provide updates on CHC's finances, how CHC is doing overall, and plans for the summer and fall. Sign up here.
Safeguarding Training
We’ll host a safeguarding training on Saturday, May 2 from 9-11:30 at the Kuniholms' house in Riverdale, MD. Safeguarding training is required every two years for staff and anyone who volunteers with children, youth, and vulnerable adults. We encourage all CHC members to familiarize themselves with our safeguarding policy and to attend a training. Contact Matt to register.
Verger Volunteers
We are looking for 2-3 people willing to serve as vergers. See this description of responsibilities to learn more and contact Matt if you are willing to serve in this role.
Atrium Materials Crafting Party
Join us to make Atrium materials for our kids. No crafting experience required. Options include coloring, touching up paint on figurines, and designing prayer cards. We’ll watch a movie or sit outside and chat (or both?). Materials and snacks provided. April 13th at 7 pm at Erin Payne’s house in Hyattsville. Email Erin for the address.
After Service Snacks
We are looking for people to help provide after-service snacks on March 22 and 29 and April 12. Contact Elena Benning to volunteer.
Worship Guide + Book of Common Prayer starting April 12
Starting Sunday, April 12, we’ll be handing out a worship guide along with a Book of Common Prayer each week. This will give all of us a chance to become more familiar and comfortable using the Prayer Book, and it will also help us reduce our printing costs.
CPNS Trash-A-Thon

Flowers for Easter
Bring flowers from your yard (or the store) on Easter Sunday so we can arrange them in jars after our egg hunt and use them to decorate our sanctuary.
Easter Vigil Volunteers
Contact Katie if you would like to read at our Easter Vigil (April 4 at 6 pm at Beverly Hills United Methodist Church in Alexandria) or if your kids would like to participate in the children's choir. They will rehearse and enjoy pizza before the service.
Maundy Thursday Agape Meals
We will holding Agape Meals in homes for Maundy Thursday (April 2). Let Katie know if you would be willing to host a few others in your home.
Service Opportunity: Donation Drive for Thomas Stone ES in Brentwood

Stations of the Cross Work Day

Ash Wednesday Service
The season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 18. We will hold an Ash Wednesday service at 7pm with communion. Children are welcome to come in their PJs.
Confession in Lent
Please pick up a handout on the Reconciliation of Penitents (also sometimes called Confession) from the the welcome table and contact either Katie or Galen with questions or to schedule a time for them to hear your confession.
Ash Wednesday Collage Workshop
This Lent, Lauren Little hosting a virtual collage workshop and retreat as a companion to this season of descent. It is an invitation to practice attention through silence, image, and shared presence. You can learn more and register here.

RILA Virtual Fireside Chat
RILA (Restoration Immigration Legal Aid) is hosting a Virtual Fireside Chat on Wednesday, February 11th at 8pm on Zoom. Staff will give an update on immigration policy and enforcement and how this has affected RILA's work and then answer questions.
