LETTER FROM KATIE • August 5, 2026
Dear Holy Comforter,
It is good to be back from vacation! Thank you for giving me time away with my family—and now, a little more time to care for my dad. I'll be working from Pennsylvania through August 16, but I'll still be available by phone, text, and email. I'll also be with you for worship on August 9 and 16.
Even while I'm away, planning for the fall is moving full steam ahead.
Matt Wooldridge is currently at Level I training for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd so that we'll have a full team ready to launch our Good Shepherd Atrium for children ages 3–7 in September. You can learn more about Catechesis of the Good Shepherd here—or, even better, join us for our Introduction to the Atrium at HMC on Saturday, September 12. You'll see more details about that in the coming weeks.
We're also beginning to plan our fall small groups.
We're hoping to offer at least one Dinner & Evening Prayer gathering—an easy point of entry into our community and into Prayer Book worship for newcomers, as well as a life-giving rhythm for busy parents, working professionals, and children. If you'd be interested in hosting Dinner & Evening Prayer or Brunch & Morning Prayer, I'd love to hear from you. I'm also happy to help you find a co-host and think through how to make hosting sustainable.
Of course, we know one size doesn't fit all. If you have another idea for a small group or gathering, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Personally, I'm especially excited for our book study of Happy Are You Poor: The Simple Life and Spiritual Freedom, led by Matt Wooldridge and Galen Carey—a book that has profoundly shaped the way I think about simplicity, contentment, and the freedom that comes from holding our possessions lightly.
We hope everyone who considers Holy Comforter their church home will join a small group when registration opens on Sunday, August 16.
Please reach out if you want to talk or pray about anything at all. I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday!
Katie
